[摘要] Dr. Paul W.T. Poon is the University Librarian, University of Macau. He has been actively involved with academic library administration and research for more than 30 years. He was the College Librarian of New Asia College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1972 to 1984. He then joined the City University of Hong Kong and served as its University Librarian for a number of years. During his tenure at the City University of Hong Kong, he was instrumental in cultivating a service culture among the library staff, initiating a number of information technology-related projects, and building up a well-acclaimed academic library.

He then joined the City University of Hong Kong and served as its University Librarian for a number of years. During his tenure at the City University of Hong Kong, he was instrumental in cultivating a service culture among the library staff, initiating a number of information technology-related projects, and building up a well-acclaimed academic library.
Since he joined the University of Macau in 2005, Dr. Poon has streamlined the library operation, initiated a number of innovative projects, and upgraded the library services. Dr. Poon also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University Library.
Dr. Poon obtained his B.A. degree in English Language and Literature from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and then studied in the University of Wales, UK for his library professional qualification. He earned a Ph.D. degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Michigan, USA in 1982.
Dr Poon has frequently been invited as a consultant to a number of academic libraries overseas as well as in Chinese Mainland. In addition, Dr. Poon taught library and information science programs in USA, Thailand, and Hong Kong in the past and is a frequent speaker in international library conferences. He has also published widely in both English and Chinese. He serves as a member of the Editorial Board of the Chinese Journal of Library and Information Sciences, which is published by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing and is the first international English language scholarly journal for Chinese library and information research in Chinese Mainland.
